About Nashoba Valley Ski Area

HISTORY OF NASHOBA

Nashoba Valley Ski Area opened for its first season in 1964 with rope tows servicing four slopes. That season was dependent on Mother Nature for snow cover and due to a wet, warm winter, the season only lasted 14 days. The base lodge was state of the art with a gravel floor and was heated by a pot-bellied stove.  Back then there were not any grooming machines at nashoba, so we relied on the staff to pack the snow on the slopes with shovels and their skis.

In the 70’s Nashoba started to expand with the purchase of the T-Bar lift in 1972, a double chair in 1977. and a triple in 1978(The Wardance Triple) Then in 1986 the “Chief” Triple was added, followed by the “Sundance” triple in 1994. Today Nashoba Valley operates with 4 chairlifts, 4 conveyers, and 3 rope tows for an uphill capacity of 11,600 per hour.  Lights were added and the Ski Area was able to operate at night.

Nashoba Valley was also one of the first area’s in the country to allow snowboarding. During the 80’s we hosted some of the largest events to date. With names like Jeff Brushie, Jason Ford, and a very young Todd Richards competing.

Nashoba Valley, while being a full-service ski area offering lessons, rentals, skiing, and snowboarding is also host to numerous other activities, all of which make Nashoba Valley Boston’s own year-round recreational facility. Nashoba Valley’s snowtubing Park, which opened in 2001 is New England’s largest snowtubing facility with 1 conveyor lift, 2 handle tow lifts, over 600 snowtubes and up to 18 lanes. The Outlook Restaurant is located at the base of the Ski Area and offers fine dining with a great view of the slopes. Witch’s Woods, New England’s Premier Halloween Screampark and Haunted Hayride, operates in October with 7 attractions plus stage shows, carnival games and rides.

During the summer months, Nashoba offers an adult summer volleyball league, a Tiki 5K trail run series every Wednesday and the summers greatest outdoor location, The Sunset Tiki Bar and Grill.  The Sunset Tiki Bar and Grill is open from the day after Memorial Day until the weekend after Labor Day.  We are open to the Public Mon-Sat from 5pm-1am and we are open for Events and Corporate outings 7 days and 7 nights per week.
