The Pond Skim is tomorrow, it's most likely your last chance to ski, snowboard, and snow tube at Nashoba so make sure that you're here to participate or watch the pond skim. We still have good conditions on the slopes, grab your gear and get some spring skiing close to home.
The groomers are digging out the Pond Skim for Sunday's March Meltdown event. All you need is a lift ticket or pass and the event it free. Spectators can watch for free at the bottom of the hill around the pond, or from the Outlook Restaurant and Lounge.
In the spring of a snowless season, Nashoba Parks has more than enough snow for a rail jam. The USASA judges were marking down huge scores while competitors earned end of season points to move on. The next event is the pond skim on Sunday, March 11, 2012.
Paul Fletcher volunteered to try out a new goggle cam (not a helmet cam) during the ATR finals at Nashoba Valley Ski Area. The race was great, somehow the race department created a beautiful ski surface even with 60 degree temperatures.

The Nashoba Valley FreeRide Series starts with a Rail Jam, builds up to a Slopestyle, and finishes with the Big Air competition. The jump takeoffs were rebuilt for this competition and were the largest jumps we've ever made available to the public. Jack Kohan and Tony Tagierello won their divisions, shown with winning prize RAMP skis.

Today we hosted the Mt. Dew Vertical Challenge Race at Nashoba. It's a great event with fun racing, prizes, handouts, games, and a chance to qualify for the Mt. Snow championships in late March. Ski you at next year's race! We've been making snow and the conditions are great!

The park was in great shape, and the weather was beautiful for hosting a USASA Slopestyle Competition. We'll host our next USASA Comp. on March 4, 2012.

Each team raised at least $240 in pledges to be eligible for the race. For every $150 raised over the registration fee, they had one second deducted from their team times. You won't see much skiing in this snow report although we are 100% open and the conditions are great, because we have so many events and programs going on in the next couple of days. February is a busy month with exciting events like ski races and terrain park competitions. We also have charity races, and some fun lesson programs for kids starting up.

It was a beautiful day for a competition! The snow is still great, the park is in great shape with new features being added weekly, and the competitors astonished our commentators with amazing runs and hit after hit down the jump line.
The Nashoba Valley FreeRide Series Slopestyle was well attended this year and featured commentary by Park Manager and Builder Kieth Kriescher as well as several experienced skiers and riders of the park staff. The commentary was as colorful as the competitors' gear, and as excessive as the tricks they landed.
It was a good competition with record turnout for a Nashoba FreeRide Series competition. We saw some great tricks, overheard hilarious commentary, and spent a beautiful day outdoors and enjoying the laid-back style of Nashoba's FreeRide Series competitions.

With 16 features in the park, we were excited to host competitors from other New England ski areas and run a successful USASA Slopestyle with help from Ridemass.
In the last 48 hours over 4" of new snow has fallen, blanketing our 2+ foot base. The conditions are the best we've seen this season and continue to improve as the snow falls. Tomorrow looks great as the skies clear and we can enjoy this new snow with fine weather.

The main park on Sundance is open, and on the first day the park was full of talented skiers and riders using the new jumps on Sundance slope.

A lot of people were out enjoying the last day of their school vacations, and one of the last warm days we will have for a while. Temps are dropping tonight, the snow is firming up, and we are preparing for another big snowmaking push. We can look forward to some larger jumps in the park, expanded terrain towards Warrior and east, and fresh snow on all slopes and tubing lanes.

It is Christmas Eve, and we will certainly have a white Christmas here at Nashoba Valley Ski Area. Our snow makers will be working right through Christmas day to take advantage of the cold temperatures. We will be opening more terrain as soon as we can, check back for updates.
The tubing park opened this morning with 3 tubing lanes and 2 lifts running. We'll be making more snow this weekend so that we can start opening more tubing lanes and trails at the ski area.

Snow making has covered so many trails that the groomers are all out to catch up. They made more snow at the Tubing Park and will be pushing to open Tubing as soon as possible. The Snow Makers are running full-blast with guns blazing on Chief, Wardance, Nashoba Slope, Sundance, the beginner area, and the tubing park. We will be opening more terrain as soon as possible. It's been very warm this December and we've had only a few cold days and nights for snowmaking, but we were able to host this early season USASA Rail Jam at Nashoba Valley Ski Area. Some of the winners will qualify to go compete at a USASA event a the winter X-Games.

Another beautiful day at Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford, MA. Pow is open in the beginner area, and Nashoba Slope is open serviced by the Snowdance Double chair. The terrain park added a 4th feature today, they now have a 18 foot down box, 16 foot down rail, 16 foot dance floor, and a 8 foot flat box.

Snowmaking continues this morning, with great success due to nighttime temperatures in the low 20s. No official word on opening day, but with snowmaking again tonight we should be getting very close.
The system is working great and we'll be covering more ground and producing more snow over the weekend. Check back for updates and a projected opening date.
